Wartime issue RAF pilots seat type parachute cushion.
The cushion is made from a khaki coloured heavy canvas which has a dense fibre padding. A central slot allows for the harness straps to come through to connect to the parachute quick release box. Six brass eyelets give the cushion ventilation. Four short webbing straps with press studs allow the cushion to clip onto the parachute harness pack. There is a feint air ministry and crown stamp on one side. Size (approximately) 15 x 13 x 2 1/2". In a very good issued condition with some slight soiling. Some verdigris on the press studs and the brass eyelets. Now becoming increasingly hard to find.
