SOLD

A classic Battle of Britain period pair of RAF Mk III flying goggles.

The leather strap is Air Ministry and Kings crown stamped, also marked goggles mark IIICL* with a stores Ref. No. 22C/69 and dated 1939.

This pair of Mk III goggles look to be in a very rare unissued condition, as no wear or soiling can be found. The large outer leather covered surround is in superb condition, although the inside sponge padding has gone hard. The black painted brass frames are excellent and the stitching is complete and all in place. The cellulose lenses are very good with some minor storeage wear & tear. On the inside the brown felt padding is lovely and clean, showing no signs of wear, as is the leather nose piece. The leather and fabric covered springs strap is excellent. The springs still stretch and the fabric covering is very good, with only a minor repair to one side (see photos).

Overall, a superb pair of Air Ministry Mk III goggles which will be hard to beat condition wise.
