RAF tissue escape map

RAF, tissue paper escape map.

Sheet 'O', Abyissinia. 

Printed in black ink with the main roads marked in red.  

These were developed by Clayton Hutton at MI9.  He needed a map that was strong, yet lightweight and easy to conceal. He achieved this by using the wood pulp from the Mulberry tree, resulting in maps that are incredibly light.  These can be screwed up tightly to conceal in small places, even soaked in water and still be used.  

Size, approximately 465mm x 545mm.
