RAF ankle boots with rare rubber soles and heels.

RAF other ranks black leather ankle boots in an excellent, hardly worn condition. Both boots are Air Ministry stamped inside the ankle area and on the leather inner sole, with a 1941 date and manufacturer (see photos). Unusually, the boots have rubber soles and heels which are of the same type and manufacturer as found on some 40/41 pattern brown suede flying boots. All other pairs of these boots we have owned, had leather soles and heels. We can find no information for this, and only have theories. One possiblity for the rubber soles is that they were worn by an aircraft electrician.
