RAF 1919 pattern tunic

RAF 1919 pattern tunic

Code: 10492

SOLD

Very rare RAF 1919 pattern service dress, ordinary airman's tunic.

Worn throughout the 1920's & 30's this RAF blue serge fabric tunic would have been part of the uniform which included a peaked cap and breeches. This pattern of RAF tunic has a five button front and a high collar, also a distinctive body style and seam stitching lines, and with sleeve turn back cuffs. Four pockets and a loose waist belt. Partly lined inside with the inclusion of a small pocket on the base of the front flap.  The 1919 pattern o/a uniform can clearly be seen here in the last two photos taken of RAF 600 Squadron, at RAF Tangmere, in 1934.

Size, approximately Waist = 34", Chest = 38", Arm = 26", Back length = 30".

The inside label looks to be long gone, but there is a feint AID stamp (see photo).

Found inside one of the pockets are a pair of uncut shoulder Auxiliary badges, also a pair of arm aircraftsman badges.

In a very good condition for its age, some old darn repairs to the rear of one cuff and to the base of the front flap (see photos).

See our other 1919 pattern uniform items, cap & breeches.
