RAF bomb fuse.
This wartime fuse is a purely mechanical, and is completely inert.
Tail pistol type number 30, Mk VI, and dated January 1945.
The fuse is operated by the small propellor in the bomb fin. Once dropped from the aircraft the fin propellor spins, which in turn completely unscrews the fuse piston securing 'butterfly' nut, thus arming the fuse.
This example is in a very good original condition. It is made from brass with a steel arming piston, and spring. It easily disassembles in to component form (see last photo).
