RAF 1919 pattern cap

Code: 10493

£275.00

A rare RAF 1919 pattern service dress, ordinary airman's peaked cap.

This pattern of airman's peaked cap was worn throughout the 1920's and 30's, but was discontinued during WW2. The style of the cap can be identified as a 1919 pattern by the small size black patent leather peak and chin strap, the tall front piece, and the high cap badge mount. The inside has a black tar fabric liner and leather sweatband. The outside is made of RAF blue serge fabric.

Size, 6 7/8".

Looks to have been issued late pre war, with a stores reference number stamp and a date of 1938. The airman's service number is also on the inside sweatband (see photos).

In a very good condition, with some slight damage to the peak edge (see photos).
