A good Spitalfields silk shawl in a muted blue with woven floral ends. English ca. 1815
The ends are woven in cream, green and dark pink. It has a cream border down each side running the length of the shawl.
The woven sections have been tightly woven at production which gives a slight ribbed effect. However, the whole shawl is in excellent condition and strong. This blue is hard to photograph, but the closs-ups show the true colour. There is no fading or damage that can be found.
The silk has a beautiful lustre, and the tone changes according to the light.
