A delightful early 19th century muslin gown. It dates to abt. 1810.
It is of simple design with a high waist dipping to a lower back waist. It is hand embroidered all over with little raised "bobbles".
There is a tie at the back neck and a rather fragile tie at the back waist.
A very charming dress which displays well.
There are a few minor holes here and there and general signs that this was a favorite dress! However, it is desirable to have such an early example and in a style so typical of this era.
Measurements: Length 51" at the front - 58" at the back (there is a slight train) - Across shoulders 12". High waist 29" all round.
