This is a rare linen shirt from an early date. Not often found in such good condition. It is probably English, and dates to about 1810.
It is a long shirt, as was the style. It has slits to each lower side.
The collar is beautiful with the high stand-up collar to the front, and the dip to the back. It has the original two dorset buttons.
The sleeves are dropped, and are tightly gathered at the top, a gusset under each one, and gathered into the wrist. The cuffs also have the original dorset buttons.
The front of the shirt has an opening to the top front and the reverse has gathers into the collar.
This interesting shirt is in excellent condition, with two tiny holes towards the base, which could be skillfully repaired.
Measurements: Length 42". Across dropped shoulders 23". Sleeves from shoulder seam 23"
