This is a really beautiful gown which originates from the South of France. It dates to 1810 - 1820
I t is mainly of fine linen with lovely cotton puff sleeves and lace at the sleeve edge.
The bodice is stylish for the era and has a small busk inside the centre to hold the bodice style.
The base or hem has rows of tucks and the back of the dress is finely worked with narrow tucks.
The skirt is very full at the back, gathered tightly into the waistband. There is back opening with original fastenings
This dress is in remarkable condition with no marks or damage. It is strong and of course beautifully and finely hand worked.
Measurements: Length 50", across shoulders 13", across waist 12"
This gown would probably have had a sash. One photo is shown with a blue one, which is not included.
