A superb pair of satinized cotton ball pumps, with provenance, French ca. 1810
These pretty slippers were found, with other items of costume in the attic of the Castle of Hautville near the Lake of Geneva in Switzerland. These items were subsequently auctioned several years ago in Switzerland.
They were made, by Paris shoe-makers.who also supplied shoes to the Empress Josephine, and are therefore of high quality and construction.
This is shown on the label inside one of the shoes.
They are cream and are lined with linen and fine leather. Inside there is "Hautville" written in old ink and script.. There are silk ribbons but these are fragile and partly damaged. These ribbons rarely lasted as long as the shoes, and are often missing.
The shoes themselves are in remarkable condition and are dainty and very sweet. The shoes measure 9" in length.
