A good quality, two handled, French copper and brass measure. The brass plaque on the front of the piece is stamped with the measure ‘DECALITRE .L.A.’ and on the brass band around the rim is a seal which is stamped with the assay mark. This is now quite difficult to make out. The piece is very well made, from a heavy gauge of copper, and it has a castellated seam up the side. It dates from c.1860. It is a very attractive item and an ideal size for use as a jardiniere or planter. It is in very good condition.
