A late Victorian, miniature iron. This is quite an unusual form of iron, with a cast iron brick which is heated, and a tin cover and handle which clips onto the brick. The cast iron section is marked ‘ASBESTOS SAD IRON’ although it does not contain any asbestos. There is also a mark on the handle but parts of this are quite worn. From what is left you can make out that it is a patent date. It reads ‘PAT 22 1900’. It is probably the month that is missing from this mark. The piece is in excellent condition.
