Very small, oval copper casserole

Code: F19253

SOLD

A very small, oval, 19th century, French copper casserole. There is a number ’18’ stamped in the lid and this relates to the length of the pan in centimetres. It dates from c.1890. It is well made, from a heavy gauge of copper, and it has castellated seams. There is a slightly planished finish to the copper and the piece has the typical French shape of brass handles to either end and also to the lid. There is very slight marking to the copper, from use, but other than this it is in very good condition. The interior has been re-tinned, so that it can be used. The pan measures 18cm. long by 13cm. wide by 8.2cm deep. Overall, including the handles, it is 23.2cm. long by 9cm. high. This is an unusually small size for a pan of this type.
