A fine quality Wedgwood basalt bust of Venus.This piece is marked 'WEDGWOOD' on the back of the shoulder of the bust and 'MADE IN ENGLAND' just above the socle. On the base of the bust the figure is named 'VENUS' and the socle is also marked 'WEDGWOOD MADE IN ENGLAND'. This dates the bust to c.1920. This is a very beautiful bust and, for a piece of this period, it is exceptionally good quality. It is well potted, has fine detail and it also has a good patina. It is in excellent condition.
