A Victorian, beechwood breadboard carved with 'Welcome'. The border is also carved with quite stylised leaves, barley and a flower. The word and the flower are quite deeply carved but the remainder is quite shallow. There are a few small marks to the face of the board, which may have been caused by woodworm. This has now been treated. Other than that the board is in  very good condition and the wood has an attractive, pale patina. It dates from c.1880.
