SOLD

A very attractive antique cast iron combination fire, likely to date to C.1900. The fire is finely cast, very heavy and has a stunning and unusual design with a large sun on the smoke hood. The cross bar has a panel design and there is a simple and classic border around the fire opening. The original mantel was broken and it has been replaced with a high quality pine mantel. The pine has been sprayed black and there is a stepped detailing to the front edge and sides. The fire retains its original, decorative, front bars and has two fixing lugs, one on each side under the mantel, for attaching the fire to the wall. The iron has been blacked and polished and has a lovely finish. The fire is in good reclaimed condition but does have signs of age and wear, as expected of antique items. The pine mantel has some small knocks and chips, especially to the front edge and the back edge has some uneven areas. The iron has some small scratches and knocks and there are some casting lines and marks visible. The concrete fire brick has some cracks but it is solid and stable. The top plate is missing. The back has surface rust, as expected. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire has an elegant period appearance and is of a good size for a living or dining room or perhaps a larger bedroom. The fire has a very unusual and beautiful design, making it an ideal show piece for the home.
