A reclaimed, cast iron, Victorian bedroom fire insert, paired with an oak fire surround. The fire insert has a pretty design, typical of the era, with a decorative arched border with a repeating flower pattern. The fire insert has the original curved front bars. The iron has been blacked and polished and has a good finish. The fire insert has been paired with a more recently made oak surround with nice mouldings. Please note that the feet have differing designs and the right hand foot, when looking at the fire, has had a piece of oak applied to make it the same width as the left hand foot. The left hand foot has a different profile to the right hand foot. You could remove the extra oak on the right hand foot and cut the left hand foot to match, if desired. The fire insert and surround are in solid condition with some signs of wear and use, as expected. The surround has some small knocks and wood knot holes. There is a notch at the back of the mantel. The cast iron of the insert has some pitting and casting marks. The top plate is a metal replacement. The fire brick has some knocks, cracks and wear. The grill has some damage and is missing an iron bar and some of the grill front. It has been tied using wire to stabilise it. The back of the insert has surface rust. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire insert has a lovely period look which compliments the oak surround, making it a lovely set for adding character to a fireplace.
