A very attractive reclaimed Victorian cast iron fire front with oak mantel, for decorative use. The fire front has an ornate design with Adam style features, popular during the Victorian era. The crossbar has urns, swags and acanthus leaves and the legs have a fluted design. The smoke hood is particularly decorative with flowers and foliage. The iron has been blacked and polished and has a nice finish. The original mantel was damaged and has been replaced with an oak mantel, made from characterful antique oak that has been lightly waxed and polished. The fire front has two fixing lugs, one on each side under the mantel. The fire front has a registered design number on the back, RD199501, dating it to 1892.

The fire front is in good reclaimed condition with some signs of age and use, as expected. The oak used to make the mantel is reclaimed and has some surface splits, cracks and small holes. There is a larger split on the back edge of the mantel. The cast iron has some small knocks, casting marks and pitting. The back has surface rust. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire front is a fantastic decorative item for a fireplace and it is a wonderful example of Victorian design.
