Dimensions:
A reclaimed, decorative, elegant carved pine fire surround. The surround is a vintage reproduction of traditional designs of the late Victorian period and is likely to date to C.1960-70. The fire surround has a very attractive appearance featuring a large basket holding flowers in the centre of the crossbar and acanthus leaves on either side and elegant leaf roundels. There are carved borders around the front and side mantel edges and under the mantel. The mantel has cut out sections giving it an interesting shape. The surround has a carved egg and dart border around the fire opening. The top of the legs have decorative corbels and there are flowers that run down the legs. The pine appears to have had a waxed finish. The fire surround could be paired with a cast iron insert or used for decorative purposes. Each foot has a tab at the base, below the front of the foot, that was fitted into the hearth. This could possibly be cut by you and the feet levelled (see last 2 pictures for details).
The surround is in solid reclaimed condition with some signs of use and wear, as expected of reclaimed items. There are some knocks and chips to the surround and the carved detailing. The feet have some knocks and splintering. There is plaster residue on the back edge of the mantel and the side edges of the surround. The pine has some discolouration and staining, especially to the mantel. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire surround has a lovely ornate appearance and it would make a very nice feature for a fireplace.
