A very elegant, reclaimed, Neo-Georgian fire surround likely to date to the early 20th Century. The body of the surround is cast iron but the original cast iron mantel was damaged and has been replaced with a high quality oak mantel, sprayed black. The fire surround has a fantastic appearance, emulating the popular designs of the Georgian period, with swags, bows and flower medallions along the crossbar and bluebell and ribbon designs that run down the legs. There is a fixing lug on each side, under the mantel, and one at the base of each leg for fixings for attaching the surround to the wall. The iron has been blacked and polished and it has a good finish. The fire surround is of a good size and is ideal for pairing with a fire basket or surrounding a wood burner.

The surround is in good antique condition with some signs of use and age, as expected. The cast iron has some casting marks and pitting. The mantel has some small knocks and wood knots. The back of the surround has surface rust. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire surround has a very elegant and pretty design and it would make the ideal period statement piece for a home.
