M1638 SET OF 3 RECLAIMED BOX LIDS FROM NAVY COMM. C.1930

M1638 SET OF 3 RECLAIMED BOX LIDS FROM NAVY COMM. C.1930

Code: M1638

SOLD

Set of three reclaimed box lids from a commander of the Royal Navy.

The lids have a great deal of historic character and each box (A, B & D) belonged to Commander C. A Merryman of Kingsworthy. Commander Merryman was in this position from 1922 - 1935 and the box lids will date to this period. Each lid has the commanders name painted on it and A, B or D. The box has a dark stained finish and we have waxed and polished the lids to give them a nice finish. The lids could make great wall art or be used as interesting décor for a man cave or similar. The lids are in good reclaimed condition with some character signs of age. There is some slight fading to the writing and box colour. The lids have some splits that do not affect their strength. The edges have screw holes and some of the holes have opened causing some chips to the box lid edges. There are some scratches, knocks and marks. Please see pictures for condition details.
