A fabulous silver and guilloche enamel RAF powder compact by Adie Brothers Ltd, Birmingham and dated 1932. This delightful compact has a subtle blue guilloche enamelled lid with and overlayed RAF insignia in the centre. The RAF badge is highlighted with green enamel in the centre (overlayed with the RAF name) and a burgundy (deep red) enamel in the centre of the crown. It is fully hallmarked on the outside rim near the opening catch and in the centre on the base and on the right hand side of the internal mirror. These pretty compacts were given to wife's and girlfriends by RAF servicemen as a way of remembering them.
This is a wonderful little compact in generally excellent condition. There is a minor indent on the base near the hinge and there are some very light surface scratches and one slightly more noticeable. The guilloche enamel is in great shape with one slight dark spot near the opening catch which is visible in the photos so please examine carefully as it is difficult to see with the naked eye. There is a slight dent to the lid by the right hand side wing but this has not impacted on the enamel in any way but is visible in certain lights.
