Original 1940s British Khaki Drill Shorts

Original 1940s British Khaki Drill Shorts

Code: 52299

SOLD

An original pair of British made Khaki Drill Shorts dating from the 1940s.

This pattern of shorts was produced during the war and in the very immediate post-war period. The date is no longer legible on the label but they are guaranteed Second World War period. Unlike many KD items which are theatre made, these shorts are clearly British made which is evident by the style of label. The shorts are made from the standard tan coloured cotton drill material and feature a button fly and double strap waist closure. Some of the buttons to the fly are of the stamped brass variety whilst others are period replacements. The rear of the shorts features a double pleated First Field Dressing pocket which fastens with a stamped brass button.

The shorts will fit someone of around a 26" depending on desired fit and when laid flat they measure -

Waist - 13 1/4"
Rise - 14"
Rear rise - 17"
Inside leg - 5 1/2"
Outside leg - 18"
Cuff - 13 1/2"

The shorts are in worn condition but still have plenty of life left in them. They feature various stains and signs of use as is to be expected from a pair of 70+ year old shorts. They have had the waist taken in at some stage. Please study the pictures to get the best idea of the condition and bear in mind that these are a vintage, pre-worn item which may have small issues commensurate with age.

A nice pair of wartime period British made shorts in wearable condition. These would make a great addition to any collection or could suit a re-enactor.
