Original 1948 Dated RAF Ordinary Airman's Tunic - Size 13

Code: 51858

SOLD

An original 1948 dated RAF Ordinary Airman's Tunic in a size No.13 and complete with its original waist belt.

Whilst this tunic is dated 1948 it is identical to those worn throughout the Second World War by all RAF airmen up to the rank of Flight Sergeant as both a working dress and a walking out uniform.

This particular example features brass Kings crown RAF buttons and WW2 period printed eagle badges to the top of each sleeve. Below these are embroidered Leading Aircraftman badges which are again the same as those worn during the war.

Inside the jacket retains its original issue label which states the size as No.13 which will fit someone of a 37-38" chest and 34" waist. The manufacturer's name is stated as 'B. Bloom, Ltd' below which is the 1948 date and the War Department broad arrow.

Inside the interior dressing pocket are a number of business cards with the name Mr Vernon H J Low on them and a Dundee Address. There were also a number of ticket stubs. All of these have been kept with the tunic for prosperity.

The tunic is in good condition as can be seen in the pictures with signs of wear and use and some staining. This is a vintage item however and may have small issues consummate with age.

The tunic comes complete with its original waist belt which fastens with the correct pattern of brass buckle.

All in all a nice original tunic complete with original wartime insignia. Ideal for the collector and re-enactor alike!
