This Sheffield plated wine coaster dates from c.1820 and is in very good condition with very little copper showing through the silver. It has a boldly gadrooned rim and the beechwood base is turned with a central 'button' on which a crest or initials could have been engraved. Although not easy to see, there is a seam which confirms that this is a Sheffield plated coaster - not an electroplated one.
Max diameter 6.7", 17 cm.. internal diameter 4.5", 11.4 cm.
