Papier mâché coasters can be in poor condition and lacking any quality, but this is a very pleasant change - it is in good condition and the decoration is sophisticated, being black foliage and acorns(?) outlined in scarlet on a gold ground. It belongs in the 'standard' category, being the size to take a single-bottle decanter and has vertical sides.
A single georgian decanter sits very well in it.
