A rare English Regency pair of Blue John urns in the neoclassical taste; a fine pair of urns with striking veins running through the Fluor-Spar; the circular finial above the campana shaped body, on a waisted socle, raised on their original Ashford black marble square plinths.  Blue John known as Derbyshire Fluor-Spar being a semi precious gemstone as Britain's rarest mineral with distinctive bands of purple, blue and gold.  Discovered by the Romans over 2000 years ago Blue John is only found at two caverns in Casteton, Derbyshire and was in high demand in the Regency period for its decorative value
