Handsome mid C19th pair of mahogany and leather library armchairs; with exceptional period red leather; the curved shaped back with a mahogany moulded frame, having deep buttoned padded upholstery, leading to the gently rolled arms with very shapely mahogany scroll arm supports having carved scrolled knuckles. The comfortable padded seat with a serpentine shaped front, raised on cabriole legs. The rear legs being turned mahogany with a good shaped kick out, retaining good quality gilt brass castors.
English circa 1840
Very good condition, the frames being tight and sturdy. The leather is in remarkable condition, with no tears or cracks, fabulous colour with a good patination enhanced by the appropriate fading to the seat and arms.
