An absolutly stunning Scottish silver wine ewer, made in Glasgow in 1826 by Robert Gray & Son. It was made within five years of the Glasgow assay office opening by probably the most renowned city silversmith. The cast vine leaves and grapes are exquisit and the acanthus leaf thumb piece tops it all off. It is fully hallmarked on the base and on the lid. One of the most beautiful pieces of Scottish silver I have had. It is in exceptional condition with no damage or repairs.
