An exceptional Georgian silver table snuff box, made in London in 1819 by Thomas Foster, a rare maker. The box depicts a butchers bench with a selection of game lying on it. There are also a fisherman's creel and fish below the bench, a very unusual box design. It is very heavy weighing in at 305grams or 10ozst. The base and sides are engine turned and show little or no wear. The 12 part hinge is tight and the lid snaps closed. There are a full set of hallmarks on the inside. There is very slight wear to the high points of the lid otherwise the box is in outstanding condition.
