One of Nathaniel Mills rarest castle top silver card cases depicting York Minster Cathedral. Made by the firm of Nathaniel Mills in Birmingham in 1844. It shows the main entrance of the cathedral and is fully hallmarked on the inner lip. There is a vacant cartouch on the back and it has a very tight hinge. Unusually the high relief casting has virtually no wear, as you can see from the pictures. Overall the casting and hand finished engraving is outstanding and typical of the very high standards associated with the Mills workshops. A very collectable piece.
