An exceptionally rare saffron or batchelor teapot. It was made in London in 1727 by Thomas Farren. The teapot is in excellent condition with no damage or repairs. The finial has a split in the wood and may be a replacement anyway. There are a full set of hallmarks on the base and a part set on the lid. There is an auction sticker on the underside of the lid showing this teapot had been through Christie's saleroom in 1989. This is an amazing example of this type of bullet teapot.
