A good large silver vinaigrette, made in Birmingham in 1826 by Joseph Taylor. The top has bright cut sun burst engraving and a blank cartouch. The sides are ribbed and there is a cast thumb piece. There is a pierced and gilded inner grill and both hinges are tight. The base, lid and grill are all hallmarked. The lid closes well. This is an excellent Georgian vinaigrette from one of Birminghams renowned box makers.
