A superb mid 19th century dug out bowl from the Carpatian mountains in Romania. These hand hewn dug out bowls are indicative of the villages throughout the Carpathian mountain regions and were mostly used for needing dough hence their more generic name of a 'dough bowl', this use has resulted in some of the best wear and tear that just can't be copied. The bowl is in natural unwaxed finish and the hewn marks give it a very decorative appeal. The bowl has knocks, cracks and dents due to it being an important part of the household utilitarian equipment it has seen continual use, it also has old traces of worm.
