1812 Pattern Officers Helmet of the East Devon Volunteer Cavalry.
A fine example of a very rare helmet, These helmets were used by the Yeomanry once the regular Cavalry regiments dress regulations changed, the helmet differs in as much as the regular Cavalry regiments original insignia has been covered over by the plate of the East Devon Volunteer Cavalry's helmet plate, this was a common occurrence during this period.
Helmet consists of a leather skul and peak trimmed with brass, three rows of scales to the sides and rear, one possibly two have been repaired, The bear skin comb over a wicker frame has been replaced, no liner present, original leather lined chin scales and lion headed bosses in fine condition.
Considering its age the helmet is in super condition there are a number of very minor splits in the brass furniture, None of which detract from the helmets value. Overall a very rare helmet in excellent condition 8/10
We are asking £12'000 or nearest offer for this helmet, the postage would be fixed based on the delivery instructions.
