Mid 19th century French panel mirror with original, silverleafed, rippled frame. Where this mirror has been cleaned for more than 170 years, the silverleaf has thinned revealing the warm, terracotta bole and cream gesso beneath. The original mirror plate has some age but gives a good reflection. This attractive mirror can be hung portrait (as photographed) or landscape and original silverleafed mirrors like this one are now becoming really hard to find.
