An exceptional pair of 19th century Venetian mirrors in superb, original condition, sourced from a private house in Marseilles where they had been hanging in the drawing room for over 120 years. Both mirrors have incurving (re-entrant) corners and curved tops. The layered glass frames have a central etched panel decorated with flowers and leaves bordered with narrow bands of scallop edged glass decorated with a central bubble design. Each join in the frame is secured with a glass leaf or flower. The wide cartouches are a mixture of glass leaves, mostly acanthus shape, and a large glass leaf hangs over the top of the curved frame. There is a little light age in the frames but the original, bevelled central glass is in excellent condition. Not a single piece of these mirrors has been replaced, the overall condition is superb, and this is a very rare opportunity to own a magnificent, and very special pair of original, Venetian mirrors. We are unlikely to source another pair like this again.
