Decorative swag and mermaid mirror

Decorative 19th century French mirror with cream overlapping acanthus leaf frame between pale terracotta and burnished gilt bands with beaded sight edge topped with a central cartouche flanked with olive leaves and with swags of leaves and berries over the glass. At each upper corner an elegant mermaid - or maybe a siren - reclines and each lower corner is decorated with acanthus leaves and husks. The original glass is in excellent condition. This mirror was overpainted gilt and has been partly dry scraped and partly stripped to bring the decorative elements back to life.
