Tall, narrow French Restauration period mirror (1815-1830) with cream gesso frame decorated with raised asymetrical acanthus leaf, floral and foliate patterns and swept corners with central lozenge. Traces of gilt and hints of terracotta bole remain and most of the raised decoration is a light stone colour. A dainty, overlapping acanthus leaf design runs along the sight edge (edge closest to the glass) and the original mercury glass has some age and foxing but sparkles well and gives a good reflection. It is one piece of glass, the line across the mirror in the photograph is a reflection of the join in our blind hanging opposite.
