Four Gold and nine Silver coins long Set, to celebrate the Coronation of King Edward VII on the 9th August 1902.
Comprising off; Proof Gold Five Pounds, Two Pounds, Sovereign and Half-Sovereign, Proof Silver Crown, Halfcrown, Florin, Shilling, Sixpence and Maundy Set
All housed within the original Royal Mint red leatherette case with gold block crest and lettering (this in very good condition)
S.PS9
A superb choice original set, a small die imperfection on the bust of the five pounds which does not detract from the overall mint state look of the piece, otherwise practically as struck from the unusual sand blasted dies, the silver with matching tone and iridescence.

*These original long sets are now becoming rather hard to find in such a high-grade state and are commanding prices at auction well in excess of catalogue values.

**With a mintage of only 8,066 sets. This year is the only time a matt finish set has ever been produced thus far for a Coronation. The engraver was George William De Saulles who also produced Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee Royal Mint medallions of 1897 with the same matt finish.
