Reverse: Crowned garnished quartered shield of arms, date either side of crown, M.B.F. ET. H. REX. F.D. B.ET. L. D. S. R. I. A. T ET. E.
8.4 grams, 24 mm in diameter.
Attractively toned, a few scattered minor handling marks, otherwise extremely fine for the issue with a bold portrait.
*1776 is a very sought after historic year for the gold guinea. This is the year that the thirteen Colonies of America declared their independence from Britain. The Guinea, Half-Guinea and Maundy coins were the only coinage to be minted in this year.
