Richard II Hammered Gold Noble of Six Shillings and Eight Pence, (1377-99) King of England.
Tower Mint London, Type IIb, French title omitted
Obverse: Robust style King standing in ship holding upright sword and quartered shield, trefoil of pellets over sail, with Latin legend and beaded inner circle surrounding: RIC ARDxx DEIxx GRAxx REXxx AnGLx DnSxx hIBxx Zxx AQT
Reverse: Large R at centre of ornamental floriated cross with lis terminals, crowned leopards in angles, all within a beaded and linear tressure, with fleurs in spandrels, Latin legend surrounding: +IhCxx AVTEmxx TRAnSIEnSxx PERxx mEDIVxx ILLORVxx 'IBAT
7.69 grams, 35 mm in diameter.

An outstanding specimen, one of the best that has been available to commerce in the last twenty years, a superb portrait, much as struck.
Has been graded and slabbed by NGC as MS63 which we feel is rather somewhat conservatively graded for this superb specimen.
