INDIA, Medieval (Eastern Deccan). Nayakas of Chitradurga. temp. Madakeri Nayaka I to Kasturi Rangappa Nayaka. (1562-1652). Gold Pagoda (15mm, 3.29 g, 6h). In the name and types of Krishnadevaraya of Vijayanagar. Struck circa 1600 or slightly later.
Obverse: Balakrishna seated facing
Reverse: śri pra/tapa krishna/raya in Devanagari script. Mitchiner, South I, 882; MNI 939; Friedberg 381.
15 mm in diameter, 3.3 grams.
A superb unusually well centred strike, showing a most pleasing full example of Balakrishna, practically as struck with a light golden tone, scarce.
